FIS Ipoh Student Council Meeting with IB consultant, Mr Christopher Frost

On March 17-18, 2016, IB consultant, Mr. Christopher Frost, had visited Fairview International School Ipoh campus to look at the progress that the school is making toward the requirements IB has for the school’s PYP authorization. As part of his IB consultation itinerary, Mr. Frost met the Student Council whom he described as “brilliant” because of their endeavors to embody the IB learner profile and because they strive to find ways on how to improve the student life in the school via meaningful activities such as Recycling, Student Monitoring and Proper Conduct.
Mr. Frost asked the students about their experience in FIS and to explain to him what they learned in school. The students replied with enthusiasm and conviction that the school has given them the right tools and avenues to expand their horizons in order to become active learners, have the inquiring minds and to take more responsibility for their own learning which would lead them to becoming lifelong learners.
Much to his delight about the responses given, Mr. Frost further asked the students as to how do they exemplify the IB learner profile in different situations. The students confidently answered by giving school-related situations like recycling (Caring), respecting the thoughts/ideas of other students although they may not be the same as theirs (Open-Minded), asking questions to expand knowledge (Inquirers), etc. Mr. Frost was really happy about the outcome of the meeting. He congratulated the Student Council for a job well done!
